ASTM A333 covers wall seamless and welded carbon and alloy steel pipe intended for use at low temperatures. The pipe shall be made by the seamless or welding process with the addition of no filler metal in the welding operation. All seamless and welded pipes shall be treated to control their microstructure. Tensile tests, impact tests, hydrostatic tests, and nondestructive electric tests shall be made in accordance to specified requirements.

A 334 specification describes Low temperature service tubes applied up to minus 150 degrees Fahrenheit. These tube are always provided in normalized condition with Charpy Impact V-Notch Test as per the temperature range requirements to assure compatibility with the applicable environments. Low temperature tube also known as   LTCS tube   abbreviated as LOW TEMPERATURE CARBON   STEEL tube . Since heavier wall thickness has an adverse effect on the low temperature impact properties, the size availability is limited in this specification. As per ASME sec II part D ASTM A334 tube and ASME SA 334 tube can be used only up to 375 degrees Celsius. The   ASTM A333   specification covers seamless and welded carbon steel pipes for low-temperature service (down to -150 degrees F). Specific nominal pipe size/schedule foreseen by the ASME B36.10 specification are not manufactured in A333 as higher wall thicknesses have a negative effect on the impact properties of the pipe at very low temperatures.
