Low Temperature Service Pipe

图片
ASTM   A333 specification describes Low temperature service pipe applied up to minus 150 degrees Fahrenheit. These pipe are always provided in normalized condition with Charpy Impact V-Notch Test as per the temperature range requirements to assure compatibility with the applicable environments. Low temperature pipe also known as LTCS pipe abbreviated as LOW TEMPERATURE CARBON   STEEL   pipe. Since heavier wall thickness has an adverse effect on the low temperature impact properties, the size availability is limited in this specification. As per ASME sec II part D ASTM A106 and ASME SA 106 can be used up to 550 degrees Celsius A106 with a tensile strength of 11.2 Mpa whereas   ASTM A333 pipe   and ASME SA 333 pipe can be used only up to 375 degrees Celsius. Specific Heat Treatment ASTM A333   Grade 6 and ASME SA 333 Grade 6 are heat treated to achieve normalized condition @ 920 degrees Celsius with controlled microstructure. LTCS pipe have high t...

ASTM A333 covers nominal (average) wall seamless and welded carbon and alloy   steel pipe intended for use at low temperatures. Several grades of ferritic steel are included. Some product sizes may not be available under this specification because heavier wall thicknesses have an adverse affect on low-temperature impact properties. Sunny Steel offers a wide-range of A333 pipe products. ASTM A333 covers nominal (average) wall seamless and welded carbon and alloy steel pipe intended for use at low temperatures. Material & Manufacture The pipe shall be made by the seamless or welding process with the addition of no filler metal in the welding operation. Heat Treatment Requirements All seamless and welded pipe shall be treated to control their microstructure by the following methods: Normalizing per A 333/A 333M-05 section 4.2.1.1; section 4.2.1.2 or section 4.2.1.3 Quenched and Tempered per A 333/A 333M – 05 section 4.2.2.1 Double Normalized and Tempered per A 333/A ...

Cold-Drawn Seamless Pipe Specifications

图片
The method for making cold-drawn seamless pipes involves taking a round “billet” or bar of steel and boring it in the center, turning it, cutting it, heating it to make it more pliable, then “drawing” it (extruding or pulling it) to make it a longer and thinner tube. As the tube cools, “cold working” begins. Cold working involves pulling the tube over a stationary die and a mandrel. This increases the pipe’s hardness and improves its surface condition and grain structure while reducing the pipe to the desired size and thickness, according to Michigan Seamless Tube. ASTM Pipe Standards Formerly known as the American Society for Testing and Materials,  ASTM  International — with more than 30,000 technical experts from 135 countries — works voluntarily to provide standards for a wide range of products, materials, systems and services for the global manufacturing and trade industries.  ASTM  set standards for  cold-drawn seamless pipe  specifications to e...
